Dear Friends and SMC members,
It
all started a few years ago, when I had a crazy idea, and organized the first
Train the Trainer event to help support the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. This
event would give clients the opportunity to make a bid, with the winning bidder
the chance to train a trainer for a full hour, and do what ever they wanted.
Not realizing what I had started, and not knowing the “vindictive” side of our
clients, who at the high end, contributed over $1,000 per session to train a
trainer. As of today, with your generosity, I raised well over $150,000 over
several events for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Cancer
does not discriminate. Every four minutes, someone is diagnosed with a
blood cancer and every ten minutes it claims another victim. Blood
cancers are the #3 cause of death in the United States and the #1 cause of
death among those under twenty years old. The LLS is the world’s largest
voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research,
education, and patients’ services. With your help they can improve the
quality of life of blood cancer patients and their families.
The
cause to find a cure is extra important to me, since a close family member has
been battling Lymphoma for more than 10 years. While research has progressed
and new treatments and drugs are available to patients, there are incredible
costs associated with EVERY step forward. Nobody can predict when they,
or a family member is going to need the help of advanced treatment that is
created with the help of LLS, as I found out this year when my wife was
battling breast cancer.
Again
this year, Saw Mill Club graciously has
given me, and Michela the opportunity to do another fundraiser in their club to
raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Every dollar YOU donate will go
directly to this organization, and will be used to find a cure for
cancer. On Saturday, November 23rd we will hold a Zumba
Dance Party at the SMC east. Fee to enter this unique event with many
Zumba instructors teaching will be sold for $30.00 per/person. Raffle tickets
will be sold at the entrance for $15.00 per ticket. In conjunction with this
event, SMC trainers will organize that day another Train the Trainer event.
Please
come to the main event. In the meantime, please consider making a donation to
this worthy cause in advance.
Thank
you,
Mervyn
